Come together for this FREE event to celebrate our local community and filmmakers!

Engage with a range of Indigenous short films, filmmakers and the wider community.

Audiences can explore different formats and aspects of filmmaking, including:

  • Virtual Whadjuk: A Virtual Reality time machine placing audiences into an Aboriginal Australian body to experience a spiritual culture firsthand in the hours and moments leading up to first contact with Europeans.
  • Green Screen fun: Be transported to another film location from anywhere in the room with our mobile green screen! Green screen compositing, or chrome keying, is a visual effects technique employed in a modern filmmaking.
  • Silent Cinema: Enjoy the hum of a busy room, then lose yourself in another world. The joy of silent headsets allows you to appreciate watching and listening to a selection of short films without leaving the room.
  • Stunt workshop: Meet Casey, with film credits such as Elvis (2022), Thor Ragnarok and Hacksaw Ridge.  He became a stunt performer in 2008 bringing with him a wrestling background – he knows how to hit the floor again and again safely and knows how to sell hits for the camera.  Casey has been teaching stunts since 2013 between his time performing on set and has also completed his Masters in Film and Television.

PLUS the morning will also hold fantastic live music by brothers Dan and Luke Riches of “The Struggling Kings”

This free and accessible Community Day is proudly supported by Lotterywest.
