The Evolution of Physical Production

Head of Physical Production at Amazon, Glenn Gainor is set to join us from his home in Los Angeles via live Zoom.
Before joining Amazon Studios, Gainor was Head of Physical Production for Screen Gems, a label under the Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group umbrella, for 14 years and has been a catalyst to several #1 movies such as The Perfect GuyNo Good DeedThink Like a ManFriends with Benefits, and Obsessed.
Since joining Screen Gems in 2007, Gainor has overseen the label’s physical production and has served as an executive producer and unit production manager on films such as 2015’s The Wedding Ringer, which was America’s number one comedy for three weeks.  Before joining Screen Gems, Gainor had much success producing three pictures for Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison: Strange WildernessGrandma’s Boy and Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo. He executive-produced Nicolas Cage’s directorial debut, Sonny, and served as line producer on the critically acclaimed Panic, directed by Henry Bromell. Gainor also co-produced George Hickenlooper’s The Man from Elysian Fields, as well as the top selling Sundance picture, Happy Texas.

Join host Noah Shilkin and producer Cody Greenwood, Under the Volcano (2021) as Cody unveil’s music licensing mysteries of producing and crafting the music documentary.
Music licensing can seem like a complicated process, so this session aims to unveil some of its mysteries, along with empowering creators with the confidence to use commercial music in their projects

Feature Film Panel: ‘How To Please A Woman’ with WIFT WA

Women in Film and Television WA invites you to hear directly from the incredible women behind How To Please A Woman, the debut feature by West Australian director Renee WebsterProducers Judi Levine and Tania Chambers, along with Renee and a few members of the cast, will share their insights into making this feature film, currently in post-production, right here in WA and discuss what the film means for their careers as filmmakers and actors.

Following the success of the 2020 Indigenous panel discussion, CinefestOZ leading voices Jodie Bell and Jub Clerc will join Screenwest’s Indigenous manager Devina McPherson and Karla Hart to discuss the importance of indigenous creatives taking the helm to ‘tell our stories, our way’.

Directors Spotlight: Nadia Tass

Nadia Tass is one of Australia’s most respected and unique filmmakers. Known for directing Australian classic films Malcolm and The Big Steal, Tass’s other feature works include Rikky and PeteMr ReliableAmy and Matching Jack.
Tass was the recipient of the 2014 Screen Leader Award for Outstanding Leadership, Achievement and Service to the Screen Industry and was received twenty-three Australian Film Institute (AFI) nominations, while garnering eight wins including Best Film and Best Director.
Tass has also directed films and high-end television in the US for Universal Studios, Disney, Warner Bros, ABC and CBS.
