The one that started it all. This classic absolutely roared off the screen in 1979. It created so much; made a star in Mel Gibson, launched a series that 45 years later outclasses all other action franchises, and even signalled to the world that Australia had a kind of mad, incredibly successful cinema, all of its own.
We owe all this to George Miller and creative producer Byron Kennedy, for forging it all in this movie. Still very much Mad, after all these years...
