Come dressed for the occasion and ready to mingle with the filmmakers and special guests as Albany rolls out the red carpet for Closing Night celebrations. Enjoy welcome drinks on arrival to begin an evening of festivities, ending with an After Party.

A special acknowledgment to country will be given by local Albany Elder, Harley Coyne, who will present a fascinating insight into the stories within the Nagellak Koort Boodja painting. One of the largest Indigenous paintings in Australia, the canvas stands 8m tall and is 10m wide and illustrates the relationship of the Noongar nations with country and the strength of the living Noongar culture. Six Noongar artists created the stunning painting in 2006 and it is now one of Albany’s treasures. This is a special event for the CinefestOZ Albany audience and a night to celebrate the incredible Australian arts and culture brought to the Great Southern region.

Following on, experience a diverse set of quality Australian short film collections, curated to celebrate Australian filmmakers. This is your chance to experience premieres of Award winning shorts, including the inaugural winner of the CinefestOZ Short Film Competition, Carmentis. Special guest filmmaker, Brooke Collard -writer producer of Aboriginal Warrior- will introduce the films ahead of the screening.

After the screening the After Party will give everyone a chance to let loose on the dance floor in the Kalyenup Studio, with a DJ special performance. There will be a cash bar in the foyer and generous canapes will continue to be served, all of which is included in your ticket.

Please note: this event is ticketed by the Albany Entertainment Centre.   A link to purchase is in the blue box below.
