Broome rolls out the red carpet for the screening of Australian Indigenous film We Are Still Here.

We Are Still Here is an anthology feature film that connects eight characters by their strength and personal stories of survival from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific spanning over 1000 years.

Starting in 1860s NZ, a young Māori woman defies her parents by provocatively performing a Haka (war dance), which in turn convinces her tribe to go to war to defend neighbouring tribes against the British colony; an Aboriginal tracker guides a free settler through treacherous and unforgiving Australian landscape ultimately leading him to his death, a young Aboriginal man in Alice Springs works for the attention of a shopkeeper all the while being harassed by a racist police officer but in a comedic turn of events, ultimately has the last say, and a young Māori child must venture into a frozen post-apocalyptic world alone in order to save her grandfather.

The eight chapters are interwoven with a distinctive approach to story from a cohort of Indigenous filmmakers.

Sun Pictures has bar and candy bar facilities.
